Intro: Breathing – So many of us take it for granted,

But for the over 22 million Americans with asthma

Coughing, wheezing, tight chest, shortness of breath
That can cause panic!

Verse 1:

Woke up feeling green today, I'm breathing in
my normal way
- Ready to work, I feel like I can fly

Drove up to a yellow light, short of breath my chest got tight,

I'm wheezing - Now the light is red - Oh I just want to:

Chorus:

Breathe Well  - Live Well
I wish that it was
easy for me to breathe
A daily automatic, inhale exhale
taking it for granted
That's why we breathe!

Verse 2:

You see I've got a problem because

sometimes it hard for me to breathe

My airways constrict, they become narrow

Mucus coated, inflamed - If Only I could!

       Breakdown 2:

Asthma is a chronic treatable disease that causes narrowing of the airways

And that can make if very difficult to breathe

More than 22 million people in the United States have asthma

Including 6.5 million children.  Each year our economy suffers 14.5 million lost workdays and suffers a loss of up to 20 billion in direct and indirect costs

And more importantly each year up to 4,000 people die from asthma

Now, the good news is that asthma can be treated and most people
with asthma have productive and active lives.

If you have asthma though, the best thing you can do is to control

the things that can make your asthma worse

I'm talking about thinks like tobacco smoke, dust mites, dusty places,

pet dander, mold, even vacuum cleaners can be trouble

The bottom line is know your triggers - Learn what things have
the potential to cause an asthma attack

Now, in terms of treatment, there's long term control medications to prevent symptoms

And you have quick relief medication, either way, know the proper inhaling technique learn the proper dosage
And by all means, talk to your doctor.  Educate yourself and get the facts
